Georgia has been associated with the cultivation of high-quality teas for many years. The first plantations were established in 1847, and already in 1899/1900 this tea won a gold medal at the World Expo in Paris. Production on a larger scale began after the establishment of plantations in 1880 in Sokhumi and Batumi.
